The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, one of Iceland's biggest tourist attractions, has been closed since Nov. 9 because seismic activity has increased the risk of a volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

The closure remains in effect until Nov. 30, when the situation will be reassessed.

Blue Lagoon on Nov. 9 temporarily closed all of its facilities, affecting operations at Blue Lagoon, Silica Hotel, Retreat Spa, Retreat Hotel, Lava, and Moss Restaurant.

This report was updated Nov. 17 to extend the closure date of the Blue Lagoon spa through the end of November.
