Progenitor of the boutique hotel concept upon its 1981 founding, Kimpton Hotels operates more than 60 hotels and 80 restaurants, bars and lounges across the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Greater China. InterContinental Hotels Group acquired the brand in 2015. Some of the brand's more recent openings include the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester, England; the Kimpton Bangkok Maa-Lai in Thailand; and the Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo in Japan.
