The area that is currently known as the Pacific Wharf will morph into its latest iteration, which is inspired by the film "Big Hero 6," and will remain open to guests while the transformation happens.
Disney originally announced the rethemeing during the D23 Expo last fall, and its opening coincides with the park's ongoing Disney100 celebration.
According to Disney, San Fransokyo Square is set in the "not-too-distant future" and represents a combination of San Francisco and Tokyo.
"As the tech industry began to emerge and the local fishing trade fell on hard times, entrepreneurs came together to reinvent the seaside canneries into a vibrant, multicultural district of neighborhood restaurants and small businesses where you'll be able to eat and shop," Disney said in a post on the Disney Parks Blog.

Inside the new square, guests will find a Baymax meet and greet and a number of eateries, including some favorites (soups in bread bowls) and the new Port of San Fransokyo Cerveceria.
The San Fransokyo Gate Bridge will link the square to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk.
