The longtime operator of a single ship in French Polynesia, Paul Gauguin Cruises last year ordered two new 230-passenger ships. The new ships are modeled on parent company Ponant's Explorer-class vessels. Its 332-passenger Paul Gauguin has been offering year-round cruises in the South Pacific since 1988.
