United Airlines flies approximately 4,700 daily flights to 356 destinations around the world. This year's international route launches included Denver-London; Newark-Reykjavik, Iceland; Newark-Porto, Portugal; Washington Dulles-Edinburgh, Scotland; and San Francisco-Tahiti. United also announced 2019 service between San Francisco and Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and Washington and between Newark and Naples, Italy. This year saw the opening of new Polaris lounges in San Francisco, Houston and Newark, with a Los Angeles lounge opening scheduled, as well. United also plans to become the first U.S. airline to fly the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner before the year is out. Finally, in September the carrier rolled out its Better Boarding process nationwide in order to reduce congestion at gates.
